Covid Spring.

As society fragments
Nature fills the gaps
Cracks in the pavement
Fill up
This is not just transient
Tumble weed
Covid has done
What Greta and Trump
Failed to pursue
The shut down
Has reset the dial
To zero emissions
Why did so many have to die
For a solution to be found
By accident
Creating the change
So desperately needed
Could we now hold on
Until the world has cured itself?
But who would arbitrate
How many would perish?
Maybe this ancient world
Is capable of self correction
Without our intervention
With Easter rising
The Christians will be claiming
Bragging rights
As Wordsworth’s 250 centenary is celebrated
Mutely in lockdown
The daffodils wave
In the bliss of solitude
All around us is repairing
Clearing the skies
Cleaning the waterways
Pollution levels receding
As animal life burgeons
We retreat into our houses
And the world is healing
Will it last if so why?
How many will have to leave
The race
To balance the books
As we ask again why
We were incapable
Of self regulation?
Bergoglio Blues.
You have to feel sorry
For the pope
Whose yard is empty
This Easter morn
Nobody singing alleluia
No Hail Marys
To be heard
What will he do
On his own in lockdown
Kick off
His little red shoes
Play chess
With Ratzinger remotely
There will be a video
Pre recorded no doubt
To give him time
To lounge about
Maybe he can ring
His pal Pell
Now he has been
Allowed out
There is so much for him
To worry about!
